Our Values

Service

Guided by the Hindu tradition of celebrating unity in diversity, BAPS values serving others through any means possible. Worshippers and visitors are welcomed with warmth and respect at all BAPS mandirs.

BAPS members, young and old, live harmoniously with their neighbors and proactively contribute to their community through various service activities. Believing that dialogue among societal and spiritual leaders is essential for peaceful coexistence, Pramukh Swami Maharaj worked to foster communication with leaders of other cultures, religions and civic bodies. This effort has also led to BAPS participation in various inter-faith activities.

Thus, members of BAPS are responsible and contributing members of their local communities. They value their own cultural and spiritual heritage while respecting the beliefs of others.

BAPS Charities

Contributing to Society

BAPS Charities is an independent international charitable organization artnered with BAPS to inspire individuals across North America to serve their neighbors and communities.

For our volunteers, the concept of seva, or selfless service, means not just volunteering time or donating money, but being motivated by a spirit of service to sacrifice for the greater good of the community and the world.

This spirit of service, as exemplified in the life of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj, inspires our volunteers to donate millions of hours annually to serve our communities.

Humanitarian Services

At the core of BAPS Charities’ mission is to be there for our communities in their darkest hours. Over the years, we’ve launched a number of disaster relief initiatives to provide stability and essentials in times of difficulty.

After the massive Gujarat Earthquake of 2001, thousands of BAPS volunteers mobilized to set up relief centers and deliver over 1.8 million hot meals to those affected.
In 2005, after Hurrican Katrina, BAPS Charities dispatched volunteer teams to provide aid in the Mississippi towns of Gulfport, Waveland, and Bay Saint Louise.
After the devastating Orissa Cyclone of 2000, BAPS volunteers and Swamis set up kitchens and assisted with the reconstruction of destroyed buildings.
BAPS Charities and its volunteers worked alongside local state officials and first responders to provide assistance to those affected by Hurrican Harvey in 2017.
Throughout 2021 and 2022, BAPS centers worldwide held multiple COVID-19 vaccination drives.
